Mylookbook August 08 Issue Online

I won't say it was easy putting the August Issue of mylookbook together, rugged up in as many clothes as possible and trying to stay warm, I tried to find inspiration in all the beautiful new Spring Collections that are arriving in stores this month. Warmer days are ahead though, so if your tired of your winter wears and ready to start looking forward to what you'll be wearing in the not too soon future, sit back, relax and enjoy my new issue....

Take a sneek peek below, but click on http://www.mylookbook.com.au/ to enjoy the full issue.

The Mother Maria "Cowboy Crepe Dress" won my heart and is on this months cover. The Mother Maria Spring Collection is so unique with so much gorgeous attention to detail. It will be hitting stores through August.
I know I know - but I still can't get enough of the Hippy Chick Trend

Cindy Crawford - still looking amazing at 42

The Knee High Gladiator

Even though this hot style of sandal started to make its appearance last summer, lately just about every celeb has been seen sporting a pair of warrior style gladiator sandals. There are a variety of styles around, however most of our budgets won’t allow us to spend $1250 on the exact pair of Chanel Gladiators that Mary-Kate Olsen was spotted wearing. Thus we were very excited to discover the Wittner Salvation Gladiator for $149.95.

Because these hot knee high shoes are such a statement piece in themselves, they will need to be worn with the right outfit. Best to keep it simple in our opinion, a plain one colour lose fitting dress or plain singlet and lose fitting shorts will make an effortlessly hot summer look.

Celebrity Style Inspiration - Halle Berry

Aged 41 Halle Berry’s style is classic, edgy and just as inspirational as younger starlets such as Nicole Richie and the Olsen twins. Proof that you can look sexy, modern and stylish, into your 30’s, 40’s and beyond, we absolutely love her classic yet modern outfit combinations.

Sometimes simple is best

Now because the concept behind mylookbook.com.au is not about fashion forecasting or what is hot on the catwalks right now (we won’t be able to wear that stuff for another 6 months anyway)... We’re all about inspiring you with what you can wear today, and if you don’t have it – where you can get your hands on it right now!

Often I get completely un-inspired mid-season, especially mid-winter. Looking inside my wardrobe I hate just about everything I see. Items that I purchased at the beginning of the season no longer have their appeal & it seems every combination I put together feels daggy & old.

Being constantly inundated with images of celebrities wearing all their cutting edge trends and looking oh so stylish and fashionable, we forget about how fantastic the classic items that we all have in our wardrobe are. I would thus like to thank classic style queens such as Jennifer Anniston for reminding me that a simple pair of jeans, a basic tee and a great bag can always look just as amazing as any Sienna, Nicole or Mary-Kate super fashionable get up.

I’m not saying you never need to shop again - I’m about to puchase online a gorgeous Urban Originals leather bag (it will definitely complete my classic jeans & tee outfit). I’m just debating on which colour as the “camel” colour has been reduced to half price $169 (was $340). I’ll just point out to my husband how much I’m saving by being able to update my wardrobe without buying more clothes!

Anyway, my point is (this week anyway, until Rachel, Sienna or Mary-Kate wears some amazing outfit that I need to replicate), is to not forget that classic & simple can look and feel great. Just add a fantastic statement bag, colourful scarf, or stylish jacket to your jeans & tee combo and you have completely transformed your outfit into a chick, edgy and modern masterpiece.

Here’s some inspiration!
