My beautiful new shoes...

I fell in lust this week. Shoe lust. The object of my desire was a pair of Nicola Finetti Studded Ankle Boots.

Ever since seeing Rachel Bilson photographed in her own Christian Louboutin studded statement heals last year I had been somewhat obsessed. With US$1150 being slightly – no actually completely out of my budget, I’ve had to be content to go without and leave them to exist only on my imaginary shopping list.

This week however while strolling innocently through the shoe section in Myer, most happy and content to browse and keep my wallet sensibly in my bag, I was unexpectedly stopped in my tracks and confronted with my fantasy shoe obsession. There in front of me, a stunning pair of studded ankle boots, begging to show me how amazing they would look on my own feet..... Just a few minutes later I discovered a perfect fit, extremely comfortable, heal not too high to walk in and oh how they looked. My very stylish sister looked at me from the other end of the shoe department with absolute approval and I was sold.

I can now cross off having a staple winter boot for my wardrobe that will make absolutely any outfit fabulous – a great one to console my hubby with (now I won’t have to buy as many new winter outfits..) and at $380 compared to US$1150 – what a bargain!

My new shoes are amazing & I love them. Full Stop.

Tie-Dye not dead...

It started with tshirts and dresses, and now it's denim as well. Seems the 70's tie-dye trend didn't end with summer and is now in full swing. Advice - don't go overboard - one tie-dye item is definitely enough to update your outfit....

Who knew you could get fashion inspiration from a cheesy Sylvester Stallone Action Flick?

With another rainy weekend on the Sunshine Coast Hubby and I decided to rent a couple of DVD's from the weekly section (nothing in the new release section looked appealing). In typical boy manner, his pick was a 1994 action flick called "The Specialist" starring Sylvester Stallone and Sharon Stone.

Having not seen Sharon in a movie for a while I was very quickly reminded of how much I loved her style throughout the 90's. She mixed sexiness and sophistication so flawlessly and while watching the movie I found myself taken on a fabulous & unexpected fashion journey (which at least made up for the corny story line of the film).

I then started thinking about how I can grab inspiration from some of her amazing 90’s outfits and transform them into 2009 fabulousness. After Googling some film stills however I quickly realised that my now current fashion icons (see Ashley Olsen below) are already one step ahead of me.

Slow off the mark or not, I think I’ll be renting a few more of Sharon’s movies again this weekend. I definitely recommend “The Specialist” ( the cheesiness is actually pretty entertaining), and from what I can remember Basic Instinct sported some pretty good outfits as well. Who knew I’d be putting movies like this along with SATC & Devil Wears Prada for style inspiration!

Another new fashion blog & style icon add to your list...

It’s hard to keep up with all the new fashion blogs out there in cyber land, however every now and then while casually browsing one really catches your eye. It’s then ritually bookmarked and becomes another online destination to obsessively check every single day.

Today I’m obsessed with clever 26 year old blogger Rumi Neely and her website http://www.fashiontoast.com/ It seems she has all the elements that will eventually have us all stalking her style and obsessively collecting images of her perfect outfits. She’s model gorgeous, her outfit combinations are effortlessly perfect and she writes a pretty interesting blog. I don’t really like using the word ‘Girl Crush” so I’ll just say that I’m now hooked on yet another bloody fashion website.

I found some new inspiration on the weekend.

I might be seem slow off the mark to those who already knew about this very cool website known as lookbook.nu. I always take time out in my day to indulge in street style websites websites such as the Thesartorialist, Facehunter and Streetpeeper.com. One of my favourite pastimes is also sitting in a city cafe to study what strangers that pass me by are wearing. Sadly the internet has now allowed me to indulge in this fashion voyeurism to an even greater extent, viewing what strangers are wearing all around the globe and all on the same day.
What has me excited about Lookbook.nu is the visual aesthetic of the images posted. Once upon a time it was only the glossy pages in fashion magazines which captured the chicest of outfit combinations, styled flawlessly and photographed so beautifully. I’d slowly soak up each delightful page, captivated by the clever angles and beautiful lighting.
The digital age has now allowed ordinary people to experiment, turning their bedrooms, backyards and personal wardrobes into their own fashion masterpieces. With no expensive film processing costs, practice can make perfect and my God it’s impressive. With the added addition of Photoshop, complete artistic expression is accessible to the masses & I I’m pretty impressed by what I see. It’s not only the clever outfit combinations; it’s the complete beautiful image that’s been created. Some of the photos I’ve been looking at are as good as a Russh Editorial, and just as cleverly styled.
Having always collected images for inspiration I’ve now found a website that will definitely keep me occupied for quite some time. With pages and pages of inspiration, it’s just how deep to you want to go and how much time do you have....

Some of my favourite pics - today...

I think I’ve got it pegged....

Pant trend of the moment – The Peg. Being only 5ft tall myself, I’m pretty sure that this cropped style pant is not going to do my own proportions any favours, never the less it's been sparking my curiosity for a while. If it’s denim jeans rolled up at the bottom, or tapered in luxurious silk dressy pegs, the simple fact is that celebrities, stylists and the fashion forward among us are embracing it whole hearted. I'm doing my research first before investing in a pair, Ashleigh Olsen pulled it off and she's short too.......?

Anyway, as always I'm happy to share my findings and curious as to how others are feeling about the peg...

Another new Issue... another new fashion obsession...

Firstly, the new issue of Mylookbook is now online. I'm really proud of this issue, and thanks to my wonderful contributors such as Erica Bartle from Girlwithatchel "Pretty Pages" and Katie Gannon of Mother Maria "Green Pages", Mylookbook isn't only pretty pictures now but an interesting read as well.

On the cover is Kookai's amazing cropped leather jacket. I became quite obsessed with this jacket & yesterday it got the better of me and I drove 40 minutes to my closest Kookai store to purchase one. Now I've been googling ideas for what to wear it with (once the weather cools down). My favourite looks so far are from Nicole Richie & Sienna Miller..... Can't wait for winter!
