White Christmas

Growing up my mum would always wear white for Christmas day, and I guess it’s a tradition that kind of stuck. It just seems to suit the day perfectly, fresh, crisp and summery. It’s probably not the most practical of colours, what with all the food and drink I’ll be consuming (and whenever I wear white it’s a given that some of that food will end up as a decoration on my clothing), I still do it every year though, following my mum’s tradition. I’m on the lookout for something new at the moment and have narrowed the list down. I ventured to my local shopping centre last week and it took 30 minutes to find a car park so I’ve now vowed to do the rest of my Christmas shopping online, including my Christmas dress.... Here’s my shortlist (and of course some celeb inspiration)..

Cute Summer Looks for the Weekend

Just a little bit of cute celebrity summer outfit inspiration for the weekend...

Eva Mendez

You know, she really would look incredible, even wearing a brown paper bag. She just has one of those amazing looks that basically you just can’t stop looking at! Her style has been pretty impeccable too right through the years. Even looking back at older photos before she was a “mega-star”, her outfit combinations are pretty flawless. One of my favourite looks is the black skirt with the white & black singlet. I also love the baggy jeans, tshirt and tan leather bag combo, come to think of it, there really isn't a look that I don't like....

New Style Inspiration - Miroslava Duma

I have just discovered a new style crush of sorts who’s photos I will now be on a vigilant look out for.. Apparently she is a Russian “It Girl” and editor of Harper’s Bazaar in Russia. I’m still doing some background searching on her, most of the websites I’ve found her name on are all in Russian so I’m not having much luck with my research. I have found some photos to share though and I’ll certainly be keeping my eye on this girl for inspiration!

Hot hot hot & under $200!

With all the doom & gloom in the economy, it makes it pretty depressing flicking through a gorgeous glossy fashion mag, spotting that most desirable item, only to find out it's $500+.....

Got to love it then when discovering an amazing must have summer dress for under $200. The Mother Maria Picnic in Peru Dress, (photographed below at Brisbane Fashion Week this year), is hot hot hot! And the best part - it retails for $179......

December 2008 Issue Online!

It's hard to believe we've reached December already, it's been a crazy crazy year. This month has been no short of drama for me, however I've managed to get the December Issue of Mylookbook online (a week late sorry!).

This month I've been thinking about accessorising with metallic clutches & bags, anything in white, and wishing I could raid Rachel Zoe's wardrobe. Hopefully you'll find plenty of style inspiration inside to get you throught to the new year!

Enjoy xo

Sneak Peek....

The December Issue of Mylookbook will be online this Friday. I couldn't help however put a sneak peek at one of the pages up. I've been on the search for summer ways to include a pair of shiny leggings and when I saw this pic from Sportsgirl of their December arrivals, it was love at first sight. Everything from the cute Mexican style tshirt dress, to the oh so hot heals... I love this outfit and am heading out shortly to purchase.

Sometimes it's not that easy to piece a good outfit together, some people have the knack, and for others (like myself) I need a bit of inspiration. My December Issue of Mylookbook will be the biggest issue yet so I hope you enjoy & find plenty of summer inspiration and ideas... Just putting the finishing touches on now....

A Sneak Peek from the December Issue - I LOVE this outfit from Sportsgirl...

Ignore this post if your well and truly overdosed on Nicole Richie...

I know I should be completely sick of her, everywhere I look there seems to be something about Nicole Richie. Apart from her incredible style, I actually really do think she’s quite pretty & for reasons I don’t really understand I never seem to tire of seeing a new photo of her.

I'm sorry if anyone is just completely over her, please ignore today’s blog as I post up some pretty magazine photos of Nicole & her gorgeous family.

And of course... some Nicole "Style" pics...I have been obsessed with Nicole's jacket (3rd pick along) for months but haven't been able find anything similar :(....

Shiny Leggings...Proceed With Caution...

Although this trend has been creeping in for the past 12 months, I really think they’re going to be huge here in Australia next winter. If you can’t wait until then, and as usual I can’t (I’m too much of a sucker for a new trend and of course trying to replicate a celebrity outfit). I’ve already purchased a pair from American Apparel and have been researching non-tacky ways to merge them into a sort of summery outfit.

I’m thinking however it’s a trend to be very very careful of, it’s one of those clothing items that can look horribly wrong and what you think may be a gorgeously fashion forward outfit can end up looking just plain tacky and cheap. I won’t paste up the scary and awful images I found (think Victoria Beckham in shiny leggings and a shiny boob tube top....) I want to keep my blog inspiring with ideas on ‘how to’ wear things. Basically my point is, proceed with caution on this new trend!

My favourite combo: A plain smock style top + leggings

Here we go again..... Harem Pants are back...

Some are a little worried about this 80's trend resurfacing. If worn the wrong way, I have to admit they aren't the most flattering of items. They're growing on me daily however, and on my hunt for style inspiration I've definitely found the good, bad and downright ugly. I've already grabbed myself a bargain pair at Sportsgirl (for $69.95) and I'm definitely enjoying the comfortability. I'm not so sure my husband thinks they are the most flattering of clothing items, especially on my 5ft nothing body but I'm having fun wearing them and sometimes with new trends that's the main thing!

Jen's got Style

With everyone writing about what Jen said about Ange in that Vogue interview, I decided to do some Jen googling. She may not have Brad anymore but the girl certainly has style. All these red carpet frocks are from over the past 8 years and I think she could wear any of them right now & still have the fashion world gushing.

Pretty pics of Jen to oggle at from various photshoots.

Jen is one of those celebs that I'm always eager to look at fresh pics of, she's pretty in such a natural and effortless way.

Celebrity Style Stalking - Sarah Michelle Geller

The always super stylish, Sarah Michelle Geller - cute casual to gorgeously glamorous.... I love how she always looks so polished and classy, on the red carpet or snapped on the street.

Celebrity Style at a fraction of the price...

Sadly I've come to the conclusion that my obsession with stalking out my favourite celebrity wardrobes and how I can (to put it plainly) just copy it, uses up quite a bit of time. Browsing the Internet (when I should be working on something productive) or standing in the newsagent flicking through the weekly mags, when I should be posting or banking is probably contributing to my stressed out existence and feeling like I just can't get everything done in the day.

Something that might help me, and those in a similar predicament however is clever Australian online store, Gosh Celebrity Fashion. With almost exact celebrity looks at a fraction of the price, you have access to all the best celebrity looks 24/7.

Even more exciting is that they are having a pre-Christmas sale right now with up to 60% off selected items....what a perfect solution - saving money and time!

On my shopping list....

Mylookbook November 2008

This month I'm thinking about harem pants and how best to wear them, what kind of glamorous Kaftan I will invest in for summer, & I'm feeling inspired by girls such as Erica Bartle who have created their own jobs online.

I'm in awe of how amazing celebs like Halle Berry and Nicole Richie looked pregnant (when I was pregnant myself I had know idea how to string a remotely stylish outfit together), and I'm loving what Aussie online stores have available so I don't have to venture out into crazy shopping centres.

Thanks to everyone who signed up to the Blog thru October, tomorrow I'll announce the winner of the gorgeous Luxe Bag and Wallet plus let you know what fantastic give-away I have for November...

I'm now off to search online for some harem pants, I think they'll work well with all the Kookai singlets I've purchased recently. I hope you enjoy what's inspired me for November....

Under the radar...

Someone who I think seems to slip under the 'Style Icon" radar in the general media is US So you think you can dance host, Cat Deeley. It might be my personal taste talking, but I from what I've found, she rarely gets her outfits wrong. Be it glammed up for the red carpet, or casual on the street, she's definitely on my radar for inspiration....

Guilt free shopping - almost!

I'm never one to miss a good sale. There is nothing better than acquiring an amazing item that if purchased at full price would have been accompanied with a tinge of guilt and a dash of remorse over indulging in a luxury that I really could not afford or did not need.

When it comes to getting a bargain though (even if the sale price is way more that what I should be spending anyway), I get days and sometimes weeks of enjoyment, way beyond the normal instant high at the point of purchase. I'm therefore very excited about the Beloved Boutique Sale, with labels such as Natasha, Therese Rawsthorne, and Mike and Chris there will be plenty of showing off with savings of up to 70%!

If your as easily excited as me, head down to Shop 2, 35 Buckingham St, (right near Central Station) Surry Hills, NSW on Saturday 8th November. Sale on from 10am- 4pm.

If your not in Sydney - just click on over to
www.beloved.net.au and shop online!

Loving: Natasha "Pepe Frill dress." Was $495 and now $198 - no guilt attached!

Basics are best....

Now although for these past few months I've been gushing over stunning silk dresses and various other amazing pieces from Kookai, after a little shopping spree in their Brisbane store last month, I re-discovered how amazing & versatile their Basics are. The quality is just divine and apparently it's because for certain garments, they use a product called "Prima Cotton" which is apparently 50% stronger than most other cottons.

Thanks to the lovely staff at the Brisbane Wintergarden store, I also discovered some basics with added little features such as the satin ruffles around the sleeve and neckline, plus they also showed me some very cool ideas for layering these. My favourite purchase was this cute little frill singlet for $49. I have it in both cream and black & love them.

From my own personal experience and can vouch for after purchasing: They are super soft & feel amazing to wear, wash extremely well and don't go out of shape and the bright colours also stay vibrant after many wears and washes. Love love love!

Kookai Frill Singlet $49

Kookai has also just opened brand new stores in Acland St, St Kilda VIC and Bayview Terrace, Claremont WA.

She's so pretty....

You know how every now and again you see a photo of pretty girl and suddenly the little girl in you comes out gushing over how pretty she is? Then you go into a daydream about how you can do your hair exactly the same way, you venture out shopping in search of the exact same colour lip gloss and blush, your start planning your next going out look (even if you don't have anything remotely coming up in the near future) - you analyse every aspect of the image to replicate her look as best you can, knowing deep down you obviously can not look exactly the same but the fantasy is so much fun....

Right now I'm ogling over every detail of this beautiful photo of Michelle Williams, her perfect coloured lip gloss, that oh so pretty hair.... maybe I should get that fringe I've been contemplating.....

For easy to follow make up tips and techniques, check out Aussie Website Primped.com.au run by beauty editors Zoe Foster & Yasemin Turker. I'm heading there now to find out how to get that perfectly radiant & fresh faced look - just like Michelle...

And you can look like Halle Berry too....

The beautiful Halle Berry photographed below leaving her Yoga Class in LA.... Being a long time Yoga devotee myself, I can vouch that it's definitely one of the only ways I can keep myself focused, balanced and able to cope with a busy & stressful lifestyle. I can't say that Yoga has given me a body exactly like Halle's, but I do know where I can get my hands on some beautiful quality Yoga & Pilate's clothing that I'm sure Halle herself would be impressed with.

Added Bonus... they are one of the fantastic Australian Online stores giving Mylookbook readers a nice discount this month. Take a browse through
www.abiandjoseph.com & if you want to stretch in style and comfort like Halle, the code "mylookbook" will get you a lovely 15% off.
