A lesson in lines…

At first I was simply going to show you a photo of my favourite Kookai cardigan, however I had wardrobe dilemmas on the weekend (possibly contributed to PMT as everything I put on felt hideous) however my Kookai cardigan always seems to save the day so I thought I’d delve a little deeper into why…

I got thinking about how the cut of this cardigan totally changes the silhouette of my appearance, so I did some more experimenting with how tiny little changes to small parts of your outfit can make such a big difference.

Experiment:

I really wanted to wear this cropped a-line singlet: I love the style however the loser fit doesn’t really do anything accentuate my waistline or lengthen the look of my body. At 5ft tall and 56 kg I have a slightly solid figure with bigger thighs. With the sides of this singlet reaching the widest part of my body, it creates a rounder overall shape. Ideally I should be wearing things that accentuate my waist however the sucker for fashion that I am, I love this top so wanted to wear it!

Solution: By adding the longer style cardigan with the nice vertical frill feature running down the front of my body, it’s lengthened and slimmed down the entire silhouette. I also love how this cardigan tapers down into points at the front and is cut shorter at the back. Sometimes a big long cardigan can overwhelm someone smaller however this style finds the perfect balance.

I also played around with different shoes. I LOVE my calf high flat boots however by changing into my healed ankle boots (which are also fitted around my ankle) it gave a slimmer appearance to lower part of my legs.

So there’s my little style lesson. At 35 years old I’m still just learning as I go however so many of you are always asking for style tips I'll just share them as I work them out for myself!
