My Kim Kardashian Style Guide: What I’ve learned from dissecting Kim’s style…

Often referred to as ‘curvy’, it’s most likely that if you were to see Kim in the flesh she would in fact be quite tiny.

Photographs and TV actually do make people look bigger than they really are, and admittedly, it does sometimes make Kim look curvy compared to other miniature Hollywood celebrities. Selfishly this is something I actually love about Kim, having a curvier body shape myself, I love to look at her style and how she manages to always look so incredible while at the same time showing off her healthy 'curves'.

Kim’s style is such a great mix of on trend yet classic combinations. She has perfected dressing for her own body shape and always looks impeccably polished and oh so glamorous. Her outfits always enhance her curves in all the right places and cover the parts she might not want to accentuate. Yes, I've been spending time recently obsessively looking at Kim's outfit combinations and this is what I've learned... 
 

❤ Know what suits you and work your wardrobe around it: She regularly wears slim fitting leggings or jeans, heels, a longer style tshirt, and a tailored jacket. A combination that she’s obviously found works for her body shape, as it always looks amazing. The slim jeans and heels lengthen her legs, the longer shirts always snuggly fit around her hips lengthening her torso and her tailored jackets accentuate her small waist and pull the outfit together.

❤ Embrace your curves... Being confident with your own body is always sexy! Although she is shapely Kim is completely toned and fit looking. She isn’t scared to flaunt her feminine body and always does it with confidence!

❤ Heels really do make a difference...They will give you height, lengthen your legs and always make you look leaner. Kim rarely steps out in flats and when she does it actually does make a difference to her overall silhouette. I think she still looks absolutely fabulous in flats however you can really see the difference it does make.

❤ Accessorise... A bold necklace, a big pair of sunnies or a bright coloured scarf will instantly turn plain and simple outfit into effortless glam.  It’s a simple rule but one to remember when your feeling dowdy and bored with your wardrobe!

❤ A fabulous blazer will complete an outfit... Worn over either pants or a dress, a well fitting blazer will polish your outfit. Kim seems to have a blazer in every different colour and a wise investment it is. She’s seen regularly wearing denim jeans but mixes and matches her shirts and blazers to create an assortment of different looks.

❤ Make sure your clothes fit well... If your clothes are proportioned to your body it makes a huge difference especially if you’re short. It will emphasize your best parts and minimize your not so best.

Kim still looks absolutely fabulous however heels do make a difference to your overall silhouette especially in photographs.

Note: Although Kim is referred to as "curvy" in the media and in some photos she does look a little bigger than other Hollywood celebrities, she is believed to weigh between 53 and 56 kg, At apparently 152 cm tall this gives her a perfect BMI of 22.9. Between 20 to 25 is the healthy weight range for young and middle-aged adults. It’s a scary thought as to how  thin some of the other ‘thinner’ looking celebs really are.

Celebrity outfit inspiration: Olivia Palermo, NY Fashion Week

Finding some creative outfit ideas and clever combination's really isn't hard if you just do a quick scour of the web for photos of Olivia Palermo, and following her footsteps during NY Fashion Week 2011 this past week hasn't disappointed.  

Just as expected, her looks have been sleek, sophisticated, and with just the right pop of colour or subtle contrast of print and texture. I always wonder how much time and effort goes into her outfits as they are just so cleverly pieced together. I'd love to see a photo of her actual wardrobe, can you imagine it! For someone who is photographed almost every time she is in public, I've rarely seen her wear the same thing twice.

I love Kate, you love Kate, I think we all love Kate. Her looks are always simple, minimally accessorized and perfectly polished. Although I could never get enough of seeing her in her signature look of jeans and basics, I also love it when she frocks up, always looking so effortlessly pretty & feminine.

Winter 2010 Fashion Trends : Shaggy, fluffy & furry Vests

It’s hard not to notice that there’s a fair amount of fluff happening in the form of vests & jackets right now. From Autumn Designer Lookbooks, fashion magazine editorials and celebrities, this rock chic look is going to be huge for Winter 2010. Lucky for us it’s one of those really simple trends that anyone can experiment with & instantly update any basic outfit.

Now there are some who don’t have a problem with fur, but for those who don’t feel comfortable, there’s no need to miss out on working this trend. With plenty of faux versions, loopy woolen knits and 70's shag style, there’s no shortage of variety to chose from. The question is, what do you wear them with?

One of my favourite things about this style of vest is its versatility. It can be worn in an assortment of different ways from a blouse & skinny jeans to a cute tunic with tights and biker boots. As one of the hottest accessories this winter season, I haven't actually purchased one myself yet but will definitely be investing in at least one!

Rachel Zoe is one of the key celebrities to bring back the look. A fan of vintage fashion, the look that she and many others a rocking could be seen straight out of a 70’s fashion magazine. I love the silhouette that the look (top) creates with the over sized vest and simple black underneath. Lara Bingle Controversy

As the Lara Bingle media storm carries on and everyone from ACA to Aussie Bloggers update us on the situation, the actual original subject seems to have extended from a question of personal privacy to a debate over whether the entire thing has been now simply manipulated into a particularly lucrative publicity stunt. 


I don’t really have an opinion to offer, to be honest I’m never comfortable discussing issues I don’t have a lot of knowledge about and when it came to this particular news story, it just seemed to be another one of those typical media controversies’ combining all the perfect elements (beautiful model/sportsperson) to which the big media moguls love getting into a frenzy over and dragging on until everyone involved has milked sufficient publicity and financial gain…



So why this post you ask? Well, I actually have a collection of Lara Bingle images on my computer simply because I’m a fan of her style. A superficial post you may think, considering all the other media resources from television presenters to bloggers covering every detail of Lara’s current predicament, I’m just going to keep it simple. I never intended to create a blog to talk about current affairs or celebrity gossip; it’s light hearted all the way for me…

So if your feeling a bit over the flood of Lara Bingle news updates, or even if your not, I guess I am jumping in on the media theme of the week just a little, but as simple as it sounds, I really just like checking out what Lara's wearing to be honest. So here’s here's my question for Lara Bingle... Where did you get that apricot leather jacket girl?... I love it!

I must admit, once again I was a little behind the eight ball in discovering Aussie model Jessica Hart. Once I did though, there was no question of putting her on the cover of Mylookbook - the photo shoot she did for Seafolly (for whom she is the face & body for), depicted perfectly a sexy natural healthy summer style.

Today I discovered she's also a style blogger herself, updating her own website/blog regularly with photos of her daily outfits & travels around the globe as a supermodel. Celebrity Style Inspiration - Alexa Chung

Some magazines have quoted her as 'the next Kate Moss', others say she is one of the most influential style icons of the decade.

I absolutely adore her quirky and eclectic outfit ensembles and natural understated beauty. When I look at images of Alexa with her laid-back & seemingly effortless style I feel less pressure myself to make sure my hair colour is touched up constantly, and that it's really OK to mix and match patterns, accessories and clothing items a little more daringly. I'm not sure I'm edgy enough to replicate one of her looks I remember seeing which combined knee-high socks, a tartan frock and brogue shoe boots however I still love to look at her beautiful photos and clever outfit combination's for inspiration.

Celebrity Style Inspiration - Jessica Szohr

Best known for playing Vanessa Abrams on Gossip Girl, Jessica Szohr is as stylish off screen as she is on. With an off screen look that I guess could be described as edgy boho-glam, she also has that clever ability to be able to mix basics with one or two trend or statement pieces creating a perfect ensemble. A talent that other celebs such as Rachel Bilson & Nicole Richie possess.
One item in particular that I have my eye on right now is her black Dolce Vita Aries Sandals (seen in a few of her photos)... I'm actually feeling a bit of an obsession coming along.....

Celebrity Style - Olivia Palermo (again I know but it's so good!)

I know I know, I've been going a bit over board lately with the Olivia Palermo coverage in Mylookbook, but I'm just loving all of her outfits so much I can't help myself! I must confess, I don't actually watch 'The City', so I don't really know what her character is like in the show, my obsession is just purely about pictures.. that's ok isn't it?
